About the Role

As the Principal Project Manager, you will provide leadership to a team focussed on safe/efficient delivery of projects through their lifecycle in line with BHP standards and requirements across technology, finance, Health and Safety at Olympic Dam.

Your responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage project performance to deliver projects in line with safety standards, requirements, budget and scope.  
  • Develop integrated project deliverables and integrate work across the portfolio through interfacing with stakeholders and managing the successful transition of project/phase closure.  
  • Develop, predict/forecast and benchmark project costs and estimates.
  • Explore and reassess the best fit solutions by taking ownership of project decisions and outcomes and monitor/manage impacts to value across the project lifecycle (e.g. social, environmental, commercial).  
  • Develop safe project delivery and contractor performance strategies. 
  • Manage contract execution to maximise operational and financial performance and mitigate exposure and risk.  
  • Work with the Portfolio Lead to identify opportunities to align project outcomes across the portfolio, and contribute to overall portfolio health beyond scope of responsible projects. 
  • Identify opportunities to optimise value, and manage associated risks to benefits realisation. 
  • Identifies, engages and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Prioritises work effort and resources accordingly.  

About You

  • Senior experience in technology Project management in one or multiple of the following discliplines
    • Control systems
    • Software applications
    • Hosting infrastructure
    • Mining systems
    • Industrial communications 
  • Outstanding relationship building skills and ability to negotiate/influence Stakeholders and senior management.  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding;
  • Sharp business acumen and good experience in developing and managing budgets and schedules. 
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies including Agile & waterfall 
  • PMBOK certification or other project management certification is desirable
