About the Role

Reporting to the Manager of the Power Team within the Minerals Australia Planning & Technical Strategic Services group, this unique role will lead critical studies within the cross-functional team and contribute to the ultimate delivery of the WAIO Power Decarbonisation program across all aspects of the project lifecycle from identification to handover. We are seeking multiple roles:

Principal – Power Road Map: This role is responsible for maintaining oversight of the strategic WAIO Power Road Map which defines new generation and transmission to electrify the Pilbara. 

Principal – Power Studies: This role is responsible for undertaking Power Studies derived from the WAIO Power Road Map to achieve decarbonisation goals.

In these role you will:

  • Be responsible for strategic studies contributing to BHP’s decarbonisation project pipeline;
  • Analyse and review functional input from technical and commercial functions, ensuring alignment with business objectives;
  • Make key recommendations and decisions that are selected and optimised for value, high quality, robust and developed in accordance with BHP’s project systems;
  • Coach and develop collaboration and cooperation in your teams to identify and deliver innovative value adding solutions;
  • Ensure BHP’s values are at the forefront of each team member’s mind;
  • Demonstrate strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously;
  • Engage effectively with Executives, project stakeholders and decision making forums.

About You

  • You will take pride in driving strategic options that enhance BHP’s value.  Advanced problem framing and solving skills are essential.  Success in this role will require strong communication and influencing skills, including an ability to produce high quality and concise written reports and presentations for delivery to senior executives.  Clear articulation of your recommendations, supported by high quality analysis, will be essential.
  • Degree qualifications in science, technology, engineering or an aligned discipline
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of project study and delivery methodology and requirements across all stages of project lifecycles OR experience synthesizing and communicating high level strategy
  • Exposure to Electrical or renewables projects advantageous
  • Demonstrated technical and commercial acumen, advanced problem solving and strategic resolution capabilities
  • Exceptional partnership and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Resources sector, manufacturing and major project experience with exposure to strategy development, investment evaluation and business planning in a corporate environment is highly valued
