Aeris Resources is a mid-tier base and precious metals producer. Its copper-dominant portfolio comprises three operating assets, a long-life development project and a highly prospective exploration portfolio, spanning Queensland, Western Australia, New South Wales and Victoria.
The Operation
Tritton Operations is a long life copper operation located near the towns of Nyngan and Cobar in central New South Wales that commenced production in 2005. One hundred percent owned and operated by Aeris Resources, Tritton forms the cornerstone of Aeris copper production. Tritton comprises an underground mining complex feeding a 1.8 million tonne per annum conventional processing plant. Copper concentrate produced at the operation is railed to the Port of Newcastle for export to customers internationally. The current mine life is 8 years, the mine plan for Tritton extends to FY2030.
About the role
Reporting to the General Manager – Tritton Operations, the Principal – Regulatory Compliance will be an integral role, fulfilling the statutory function the Mining Engineering Manager (MEM) and providing expert advice and counsel that is fit for purpose and in meeting the legislated and regulatory requirements of the site. This is a pivotal role contributing to the ongoing safety and success of Tritton Operation’s.

- As the appointed statutory Mining Engineering Manager (MEM) for site, create, implement, and oversee a compliance framework and measures to ensure effective outcomes in accordance with applicable legislation
- Partner with site leadership team to ensure optimal compliance requirements to the requirements of the Site Health Safety Management System (SHMS) and relevant legislation
- Ensure the site is compliant with the New South Wales Mining Safety and Health Act and regulations
- Lead the facilitation and execution of an enhancement project for the Aeris controlled document management system (CDMS), encompassing the updating of health, safety, and relevant documentation for Tritton Operations.
- Validate compliance with corporate standards and procedures through the documentation review process.
- Demonstrate proficiency in regulations, standards, codes of practice, and company procedures relevant to the assigned work, ensuring strict adherence.
- Ensure compliance with Engineering Standards for all plant and equipment across the mine site including document and change management processes
- Coach frontline leaders and relevant stakeholders on compliance and the statutory requirements inherent in their roles to ensure the appropriate discharge of obligations
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, industry bodies, and other stakeholders to foster positive relationships and stay informed about industry best practices
- Develop and complete regular reporting on compliance metrics for the site including analysis and recommendations for improvement
- Assist in building and sustaining a high-performing culture that values performance and behaviour aligned to the achievement of strategic objectives and company values
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or similar field
- Statutory NSW Mining Engineering Managers certificate
- Working knowledge of NSW relevant legislation and regulations
- Excellent communication skills including interpersonal, negotiating, influencing, verbal and written
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
- Open manual drivers licence
- FIFO from Brisbane on 8:6 roster
