The Opportunity – Permanent, Full Time Position

The newly created position of Principal Resource & Reserve Governance will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of level 2 processes for Resource and Reserve Governance as well as assisting with the global leadership on public reporting of South32’s Resource, Reserve & Exploration outcomes.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Resource & Reserve Governance, other key accountabilities of the role will include:

  • Implement and maintain framework, policy and procedures related to the reporting of Mineral Resources, Ore Reserves and Exploration Results for the company. 
  • Plan and coordinate activities associated with reporting across all mining operations.
  • Maintain and manage records for each operation in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Fulfil Level 2 governance processes to verify and validate controls
  • Execute processes to educate and train professionals involved in the disclosure of resources & reserves.
  • Represent the company through various JVP and external activities
     

About You

  • Overriding commitment to Health & Safety and sustainable development
  • Prior experience in a variety of operational, technical, and leadership positions, including knowledge of mining operations, public reporting, and technical management
  • Knowledge of resource estimation, mine planning, and value across a variety of commodities and mining operations
  • Knowledge of public reporting codes, Australian Securities Exchange Listing Rules pertaining to Resource and Reserve reporting
  • Planning and coordination of activities and personnel to deliver the stated results 
  • Deep level of understanding of the company’s portfolio of operations
  • Auditing & training skills
  • Ability to convey messages across a wide range of groups. 
  • Technically capable, curious, and inquiring
  • Proven ability to facilitate teamwork, engineer consensus, knowledge sharing and promote collaboration across teams without direct line management authority. Ability to engineer consensus and build organisational capability
  • Effective relationship and people management skills
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills; experience communicating at all levels in the organisation
  • Expertise in mine value optimization, having accounted for geology, process, and other non-mining factors
  • A demonstrated capability for attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and fair and critical thinking
  • Have a sound sense of judgement and acting with credibility
  • Logical aptitude and leadership qualities
  • Promote objective thinking and innovation
  • Efficient problem-analysis and solution-providing skills
  • Strong and effective coordination skills
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
  • Post-graduate qualifications and Proficiency in other languages an advantage (Desirable)
