Reporting to the Risk and Assurance Manager the role represents a unique and rewarding opportunity for you to use your experience and creativity to build on our approach to Risk Management. You will be responsible for the continued development, maintenance and implementation of the Risk Management Standard to be applied at all operating mine sites and future projects. 

The responsibilities

  • Embed a culture of risk-based decision making into the company HSE Strategy
  • Lead the implementation of the company risk framework within operations and maintain the operations risk profile
  • Partner with site General Managers and Risk Owners at operations and projects by providing deep functional knowledge and coaching in the application of risk management
  • Engage with Chief Operating Officer and EGM HSE on the performance of operations within risk appetite
  • Lead, coach or participate in business critical (non BaU risk) risk assessments to ensure effective risk-based outcomes
  • Participate in HSE audit and 2nd line of defence activities and contribute to the development of the internal audit (3rd line of defence) schedule as required
  • Contribute to the development of 5-year plan ensuring there is clear integration with Risk Management outcomes and the HSE Strategy
  • Input risk performance into Group wide reporting, data visualisation and analytics
  • Participate in incident investigations where requested to ensure effective investigation outcomes and response
    Demonstrate a personal commitment to HSE policies and practices, proactively identifying risks and hazards to continuously improve WHC HSE performance

What you will need

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Science, Environmental, Risk Management or other suitable qualification (preferred)
  • Experience in risk / heavy industry / mining (preferred)
  • Risk Management systems development and implementation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to engage and influence large and diverse teams at multiple levels in the organisation focusing on customer requirements
