About the Role

The Principal Reporting role is a high-profile role within the Global Risk, Insurance, and Internal Audit (GRIA) function that provides insights through reports to senior stakeholders across BHP and externally, including the ELT, the Board and our shareholders. Reporting to the VP Strategy and Governance, you will be a member of the GRIA extended leadership team and will play a key role in the strategy to connect risk data to key insights to support with our organisations’ risk management, governance and risk informed decision making.  In this role, you will build an understanding of the BHP Risk Framework and the universe of risks to which BHP is exposed to, you will draw upon this knowledge to look across internal and external risk information to identify themes and insights for the management and reporting of key emerging, current and strategic risks to BHP. You will also identify and deliver continuous improvement opportunities to facilitate the provision of actionable real-time risk information to stakeholders. As the Principal Risk Reporting, your responsibilities will include: •    Analysing risk data to identify trends and inform the prioritisation of activities. •    Conducting benchmarking of the internal and external environment to contribute to the identification of emerging, strategic and current risks. •    Contributing to setting and monitoring organisational performance metrics, including key risk indicators and key performance indicators, and providing support and challenge where appropriate. •    Preparing Board and executive reports on BHP’s risk management performance and the Risk Framework. •    Liaising with Group Governance, Legal and other stakeholders to support the delivery of timely and relevant risk information to decision-makers.  •    Preparing and reviewing Company-level risk information for external reports, such as the Annual Report, Sustainability website and Company prospectuses. •    Monitoring changes in the internal and external environment and regulations that may impact risk reporting. •    Depending on experience, this role may also support with the functions’ budgeting and forecasting processes and performance monitoring. 

This role can be located in Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth or Brisbane.

About You

We are looking for someone who is an excellent communicator with an ability to analyse large volumes of data to identify and communicate key messages to a range of audiences. Ideally, you will have the following experience:  •    Significant experience in reporting risk or business performance or in advisory roles that require extensive data or information analysis.  •    Demonstrated experience preparing reports for senior stakeholders.  •    Strong experience in risk management and knowledge of professional standards (e.g. ISO 31000, COSO and RIMS)  •    Ability to partner with stakeholders to build a culture of collaboration and achieve change through influence.  •    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
