About the Role
This Principal role delivers in-depth knowledge of groundwater monitoring, great artesian basin monitoring, to inform sound environmental risk management as it relates to Olympic Dam’s operations. Key to the role will be implementation of existing environmental groundwater monitoring programs, support for major project groundwater investigations, support for site Environment team routine monitoring, providing experience and leadership.
This role ican be based in Adelaide (with regular/fortnightly travel to site) or residential in Roxby Downs, operating on a Monday to Friday basis.. Flexibility is required to complete quarterly artesian monitoring with time off in lieu will be granted during these periods. Flexible options can be discussed with the successful applicant.
In this role you will:

Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day

Primarily be responsible for the execution of Olympic Dam’s Artesian monitoring program and site groundwater monitoring.

Train, mentor and assist site team members to undertake groundwater monitoring activities

Provide Subject Matter Expert hydrogeology support to project and operational teams where required

Manage data delivery to groundwater database

Provide growth project support in relation to site groundwater monitoring where required

Provide advice to support groundwater modelling to inform project studies and statutory approvals where required

Monitor performance, policy and legislative changes, as well as industry performance and benchmarks

Provide support for processes and systems to meet licencing and statutory permitting requirements

Build and maintain relationships with relevant external (government, industry bodies, environmental consultants, traditional owners, pastoralists, non-government organisations) and internal stakeholders to ensure problems are addressed and resolved effectively and in a timely manner

Tertiary qualification in Hydrogeology

Significant and relevant industry experience

Significant experience in Artesian groundwater sampling and considerable experience in data analysis

Significant experience in remote travel and groundwater water monitoring and sampling for extended periods of time

Ability to engage and work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders

Intermediate to advanced computer literacy and competent with complex data analysis
