Principal, Solution Architecture
Work Location:
Fortescue’s East Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

The Principal, Solution Architecture involves managing squads that support the rest of the organisation, through designing technology solutions that align with the business technology roadmap. These squads consist of a combination of solutions architects, analysts, engineers, and UI/UX team members.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead a team of solution architects and support staff to deliver product solution designs that meet business needs
- Work closely with Product Managers, development teams, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Develop and implement technical standards and best practices to ensure high-quality solutions are delivered and that re-work is minimised
- Ensure deigns are compliant to QA requirements
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the team to ensure they are continuously improving their skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with other teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and standardization.
- Ensure development environments are appropriately set up to integrate with existing infrastructure
- Design solutions that are scalable, efficient, and cost-effective
- Identify platform selections which align with broader business strategy
- Ensure safety in design is incorporated in the design phase
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in software development, solution architecture, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership role within a mining/resources environment, managing technical teams in an agile environment, with direct experience developing tools for usage by engineering teams
- Strong knowledge of systems architecture, UI/UX methodologies
- Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps.
- Strong understanding of architecture principles and design patterns.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
