About the role
We are looking for an experienced Principal Advisor, professional and leader to join our State Agreement and Approvals team. Within this role, you will use your managerial experience, technical knowledge and interpersonal skills to effectively lead a team of experienced professionals and determine the State Agreement approvals strategy for Rio Tinto’s operations.

Reporting to the Manager Approvals and working as part of dynamic and exciting team, you will be:
Delivering complex State Agreement approvals and providing strategic advice on the State Agreement framework that governs Rio Tinto’s operations
Ensuring compliance with notice, reporting and other requirements under the State Agreements
Engaging with relevant stakeholders, including the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation
Working closely with internal business units and other approvals experts to determine the State Agreement strategy to align with relevant project schedules
Demonstrated ability to produce written reports and documentation of a high standard
What you’ll bring
A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
An understanding of the contractual and legislative framework of Western Australian State Agreements.
Experience working within the Western Australian approvals regulatory regime in the resource sector
Strong project management and written communication skills.
Sound negotiation and influencing skills
A Bachelor’s degree in Law, Commerce, Science or related discipline would assist

Where you’ll be working
This role will be based in our Perth CBD office, located in Central Park on a regular 5 days on, 2 days off full time work pattern.
