About the Role
We have an exciting and challenging new position within Western Australia Iron Ore Asset Strategy team. Reporting to Manager Strategy, this highly impactful and cross-functional role will play a pivotal part in providing thought leadership and technical mastery for the Asset in the development, evaluation, recommendation and delivery of Asset level business strategies whilst identifying emerging risks or gaps affecting strategic direction.
Working independently or within cross-functional projects, you will be tasked with monitoring delivery and ensuring integration of large corporate, Asset centric initiatives, pulling together key information, influencing and challenging thinking, preparing concisely written reports and clearly articulating outputs and insights to senior management and stakeholders.
Responsibilities will also include:
• Maintaining a wide network of impact, integrate functions, operations and regions to drive strong functional/operational integration across the Asset. • Developing strategic masterplans on various business enablers to identify, assess and trade-off business opportunities and risks to maximise value. • Supporting holistic plan optimisation and integration across all the strategic pillars. • Pro-active identification of plan or strategy delivery risks, and definition of integrated mitigation plans. • Facilitation of workshops, undertaking structured opportunity framing and problem solving engagements to lead teams through complex business opportunities or challenges with multiple variables or scenarios, and a high level of ambiguity.
About You

You establish credibility through deep technical expertise, collaborative and open leadership combined with highly developed communication skills. You relate well with people with an engaging style allowing you to build meaningful and beneficial partnerships.
To be successful in this key role, you will possess significant business and strategic planning experience gained within a complex mining environment or in your work within a Top Tier consulting firm.
You will also demonstrate the following:
• An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development; • A deep passion for upholding and living the BHP Charter values; • Proven ability to build, grow and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders; • Excellent business acumen with structured and critical thinking in complex decision making, opportunity framing, and investment decision analysis; • Ability to quickly adapt and apply integrative thinking to develop strategic advice, deliver briefings on complex issues and be alert to risks and opportunities; • Ability to think strategically about long-term objectives and uncertainties, however also comfortable to work in the details with analytical expertise as part of the coordination and management of data from multiple sources; • Ability to identify opportunities, drive initiatives and influence outcomes across teams, with strong knowledge and experience in project management. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to translate data to a broad stakeholder group; • Proven ability to engage, persuade and influence senior leaders; • Ability to cope with multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment; • Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Engineering or similar, and relevant Post-Graduate studies with commercial and financial acumens beneficial.
You will be based in Perth, Western Australia, in the multi award winning office tower - 'City Square'.
