BHP Coal DevOps

BHP has embarked on a journey to accelerate implementation of DevOps across MinAu Technology.  This transformation exercise combines our delivery, engineering and operational teams – to focus on providing an end-to-end service. This change will improve our speed to deliver value and provide more reliable services.

We are seeking to fill a number of roles with individuals who can lead by influence working with Sub-Domain Leadership.

About the Role

As a Principal Supply Chain Application owner, you play an integral role in maintaining operational stability, availability, and performance of technology services across BHP in support of safe Asset operations. As part of the Coal DevOps Data and Digital team, you are accountable for the value, availability, performance, maintenance, security and ongoing operational support of Technology products and component used to provide the service.

Key accountabilities:

  • Lead a team of technical specialists/support team to support the service.
  • Be the customer contact for all enquiries and issues related to the service.
  • Ensures that the ongoing service delivery and support meet BHP’s agreed SLAs.
  • Provides input where required to the service attributes such as performance, availability, capacity, security, service level agreements.
  • Solicits required data, statistics and reports for analysis and facilitates effective service monitoring and reporting to provide status on service health.
  • Liaises with the appropriate process/product owners throughout the service management lifecycle.
  • Ensures Services meet robust operational requirements to run and maintain the service and formally accepts transition of new or modified services into the production environment.
  • Thorough review and Operational Approval of Change Requests.
  • Incorporate DevOps thinking in coordinating and prioritizing the lifecycle of minor works, standard catalogue items and modifications and enhancements.
  • Identifying and leading initiatives for the improvement, simplification, standardization of application landscape.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience leading teams including third party vendors.
  • A growth mindset that enjoys divergent thinking, experimenting, and going outside your comfort zone.
  • Strong analytical skills with an excellent understanding of root causes analysis, 5 whys or similar problem investigation methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience engaging across all levels of the business, and ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Belief in a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, safety, and trust.
  • Deep operational experience within technology.
  • Experience in agile ways of working or project management is beneficial; and
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
