About the Role

The Principal Improvement role within Integrated Production & Remote Operations (IPRO) is responsible for the identification and management of improvement projects, adding material value to the WAIO supply chain through your passion for leading change, eliminating waste, and increasing efficiency to deliver high value cross functional projects. You will be a part of a high performing team, supporting the delivery of IPROs strategy and aspirations across all of our priority focus areas.

Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Identify and lead improvement projects to deliver value to the WAIO Supply Chain through continuous improvement, breakthrough and standardised work methodologies.
  • Delivery of IPRO priority improvement projects and when required, those linked to the Asset Integrated Improvement Plan (AIIP).
  • Analyse value metrics to identify opportunities and facilitate problem solving sessions to identify the root cause of problems and improvement actions.
  • Collect and analyse qualitative data through research design and the facilitation of idea generation and synthesise the data to generate and enhance insight.
  • Determine the underlying cause of problems and evaluate multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems. 
  • Support both frontline and leadership with BOS tools and routines, improvement processes and systems through role modelling, knowledge sharing and coaching.

About You

You must be passionate, have high energy levels and be devoted to a safe, inclusive, and engaging culture.  You must be customer focused and committed to ensuring our improvement engine is functioning effectively and efficiency.

You will ideally possess the following:

  • Advance project management skills demonstrated through operational excellence in leadership, change management and stakeholder management.
  • Systems thinking and analytical skills to drive decisions and improvements, being influential and working through teams to collaboratively problem solve.
  • A passion for enhancing culture and supporting a psychologically safe and inclusive work environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the BHP Operating System and being able to critically observe, coach and provide feedback to leadership and peers on improved ways of working.
  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent BHP experience in one of the following disciplines: Engineering, Business, Science, Finance, Commerce or similar.
