The Opportunity – 12-month, Fixed Term Position

A great opportunity for a Principal Supply – Technology to join the team and provide expert advice and execute Technology Category Management activities in line with category and sourcing plans to increase productivity, lower costs, manage risks and unlock organisational value safely and sustainably.  Reporting to the Manager Technology Supply, key role accountabilities include the following:

  • Responsible for leading commercial contract negotiations with vendors for strategic and innovation contracts.
  • Responsible for the execution of initiatives in key Technology categories including – Software development and maintenance, Connectivity, Professional Services, Operational Technology, Cloud and Service Management and Innovation
  • Contributes to an inclusive culture that values strategic thinking and innovation
  • Analysis of opportunities to optimise spend and reduce supply risk across categories. Includes gathering data from internal and external sources 
  • Develops collaborative relationships with suppliers to ensure optimum delivery quality and sustained performance in line with business objectives. This also includes supporting resolution of supplier performance issues and escalations and management of disputes.
  • Support and manage vendors through required improvements in relation to Modern Slavery audit findings
  • Monitoring existing contracts and the portfolio of suppliers supporting the business ensuring optimal usage & performance against business expectations in line with business standards.
  • Execute and manage variations and renewals as they apply to assigned portfolio of work in line with the South32 Supply standard and Contracts and Commitments standard
  • Support and mentor team members in delivery of strategies, RFX’s and approval documentation and management of vendors.

About You

You will be required to have the following.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role or a as technology lawyer or technology project manager
  • Ability to read, understand, draft and negotiate technology contracts
  • Excellent understanding of contract law, especially Intellectual Property and liability
  • Excellent understanding of Data Protection and Privacy legislative requirements and their relationship to technology applications
  • MCIPS preferred
  • Prior experience with Ariba
  • Contract drafting and negotiation
  • Excellent understanding of Technology contracts and associated risks
  • Excellent understanding of Intellectual Property provisions in relation to technology innovation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, law or procurement

Location

This role will be based at our corporate office in the heart of Perth CBD.
