About the Role

We are currently recruiting Principal Talent Labour Channels & Partnership, a newly created role in ourTalent and Performance department. The purpose of this role is to support the design of the talent strategy by understanding local and global labour economics to help identify the labour pools and talent markets BHP needs to win to fulfil BHP’s most value accretive and critical roles both now and into the future. The individual in this role will support senior leaders to build partnerships in industry and government to access those talent pools and support them to work with external affairs, government, and regulatory teams. 

Reporting to Head of Talent, your core accountabilities include:  

  • Identify, shape and influence external talent pools, by supporting CPO and VP Talent and Performance to build partnerships.
  • Develop labour market insights from research and by leveraging BHP’s labour economics, strategic workforce planning, M&A, employee relations and market intelligence teams to identify the best and economically viable, global labour pools to position BHP for future-facing minerals.​
  • Understand from strategic workforce planning team, and own analysis where necessary the most value accretive roles and career segments in BHP both now and into the future and analyse current and future shortages in supply of specific talent.
  • Analyse and prioritise partnerships and labour pools for targeting using analysis that considers net migration, global mobility, visas, attractiveness, EVP, economic viability and so on.

About You

As a successful candidate you will possess the following:  

  • Strong research and insights experience with some expertise and experience in labour economics, identifying required industry partnerships, leveraging teams across BHP that generate elements of this research.
  • Problem solving and strategic, innovative, expansive thinker who is comfortable working in ambiguity and a fast-paced environment.
  • Tertiary qualification in business, strategy, economics, human resources, or organisational psychology.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to support credibility and influence at senior levels.
  • While it is not mandatory, experience working with top tier consulting firm focusing and/or experience on talent/labour market research/insight/analytics is highly regarded.
  • While it is not mandatory, Postgraduate qualification in Economics, HR or Org Psychology is highly regarded.

Location

There is flexibility for this role to be based at our Australia corporates offices in Brisbane, Perth or Adelaide. You will be working on Monday-Friday and flexible work is also offered.
