We are looking for a Principal Engineer Technical Assurance to lead a team of subject matter experts, providing independent review and assessment of projects and providing technical support to project leaders across Sustaining Capital Projects.

You’ll utilise your outstanding ability to partner with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including site based operational leaders, functional leaders, and asset management service providers to deliver complementary solutions to the business.

Reporting to the Manager, Portfolio Management, you will be:

  • Leading Technical Assurance, a team of technical subject matter experts for the Sustaining Capital project portfolio
  • Developing the engineering processes and systems which are critical for successful project outcomes
  • Representing the engineering support for project leaders through project review stages
  • Fulfilling a technical assurance role as required to ensure sound engineering for multidisciplinary projects
  • Champion Safety in Design for all projects to ensure best industry practice and compliance to relevant standards 
  • Leaning on your extensive industry experience, proving guidance to project leads and teams in the development and review of project Scopes of Work, Basis of Design and User Requirement Specifications
  • Reviewing design deliverables such as drawings, calculations and reports
  • Providing input into HAZOPs, HAZIDs and the response of technical queries (TQ), construction queries and general technical support
  • Supporting commercial activities through technical input i.e. TQ responses, technical reviews of tenders
  • Ad hoc travel to our Pilbara operations will be required for inspections of plant and equipment

What you’ll bring

As a valued partner of our site operation teams and project leaders, you will build close partnerships with the internal and external stakeholders therefore your communication, collaboration and engagement skills will be valuable. 

Your ability to work in both a team environment and autonomously is essential as you will require strong decision making capability with the ability to lead, influence and motivate your team.

This role presents opportunities to work across a diverse range of projects, it is essential you have a strong understanding of the project lifecycle, Australian Standards, Safety in Design.

Your experience in project management will be highly regarded. Project scoping, design, commissioning and strong problem resolution is required to succeed in this role. You’ll bring your experience in defining and implementing project improvement initiatives to maximise capital efficiency throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Whilst knowledge of Mine and Port operations is advantageous, your experience may include other heavy industries such as oil/gas, aviation and manufacturing.

You’ll be required to bring your Engineering degree education into this role, a Chartered professional engineer will be highly regarded as you will be required to have a strong understanding of engineering design and construction processes.

The commitment to the safety of yourself and your team with a positive attitude and strong values is a must.

We require you to hold a “C Class” WA Driver’s license.

Where you’ll be working

Flexible working arrangements are available. You can take advantage of an ideal combination of working remotely, from home as well as spending face-to-face time with your colleagues on a regular basis at our head office in Central Park - Perth CBD, with irregular site travel required.
