About the Role
Working in the Geotech Modelling and Strategy team in Adelaide and within the broader Planning and Technical Team, the Principal Geotechnical role provides geotechnical excellence for the Olympic Dam mine and potential Oak Dam resource.
Working in a small, dynamic technical team in a flexible work environment, your technical skills and collaborative approach will enable you to work across disciplines. Your focus on safety, material risk management, technical standards and industry best practice will support the creation, delivery and safe execution of mine plans.
With a passion for geotechnical practice, you will:
- Collaborate with the mine geology team in acquiring and interpreting rock mass characterisation data;
- Define geotechnical domain models and rock mass failure criterion;
- Work with the mine planning team to design safe and sustainable mining solutions for the next 50+ years;
- Develop and facilitate implementation of geotechnical monitoring strategies;
- Support studies for mine growth, infrastructure and new prospects;
- Establish and embed emerging technologies;
- Turn orebody information into mining knowledge through the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle with the site geotechnical team members; and
- Work flexibly in an Adelaide based role with site travel as required.

About You
- Previous exposure to the mining and minerals processing industries.
- >7 years geotechnical experience in geotechnical design and monitoring
- Advanced skills in rock mass characterisation, instrumentation and monitoring, and numerical modelling methods.
- Knowledge of project management techniques.
- Ability to think laterally and visualise in 3D.
- Proven ability to influence and mentor others in HSEC principles and behaviours.
- Ability to operate across disciplines to deliver quality outcomes.
- Professional association affiliation is preferred with the ability to gain chartered status (i.e. RPEQ – CPGeot)
- Willingness to share knowledge and experience to improve the capability of the team.
