About the Role
Future Planning is a multi-year program focused on improving BHP’s approach to mine planning and delivering more predictable outcomes. The program introduces innovative planning methods across the value chain and time horizons. Enterprise Mining Probabilistics (EMP), one of three workstreams within Future Planning, applies probabilistic planning to manage variability and improve performance. This approach supports predictable delivery and continuous improvement.In this role, you will:
- Support the EMP team in discovery and prototyping activities to define how EMP methodology can be applied to underground mining operations, guiding future deployments for Copper South Australia (CuSA).
- Assist with transitioning these activities into a phased deployment approach across CuSA.
- Apply probabilistic methods, variability management, and systems thinking within traditional underground mine planning practices.
- Participate in EMP team routines using Agile Project Management Framework (APMF) practices, ensuring deliverables meet agreed objectives and criteria.
- Engage with CuSA stakeholders and provide general team support. Occasional site travel may be required.
About You
Essential:
- Experience with Deswik.Sched underground mine planning and scheduling software. Exposure to probabilistic or stochastic scheduling practice & concepts is an advantage.
- Background in mine planning for tactical or strategic decision-making.
- Underground mining experience or technical expertise across engineering disciplines (mining, maintenance, improvement).
- Ability to work effectively in a team, communicate, engage and influence across diverse groups.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of systems thinking and Theory of Constraints in mining (e.g., Value Chain Excellence).
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to different audiences.
- Familiarity with CuSA operations and established relationships within the Asset.
Location
Adelaide preferred, but exceptional candidates from other Australian capital cities will be considered.
