About Value Engineering group
BHP’s Value Engineering group was established to identify, maximise and implement value-adding capability and performance improvement opportunities across the value chain of BHP’s assets.
We are a collaborative team who analyse the end-to-end value chain and project portfolios of BHP’s assets, to identify, evaluate and recommend opportunities to lift asset performance and capability. The skill areas of the Value Engineering group include engineers, data analysts, data scientists and simulation specialists.
About the Role
As a Principal Value Optimisation, you will be part of this global team, reporting to the Manager Value Optimisation. Working alongside multi-disciplinary professionals you will deploy best-in-class thinking to maximise the impact across BHP’s capital projects portfolios and project delivery, using engineering expertise and drawing on the knowledge of operations and business experts.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Plan and lead the execution of Capital Excellence and Capital Portfolio Optimisation initiatives.
- Maximise BHP’s capital project and portfolio value by applying rigorous and holistic methodologies combined with analytics and Agile techniques.
- Uncover performance, risk and cost improvements and value optimisation opportunities for short-, medium- and long-term time frames for BHP’s capital projects and portfolios.
- Work closely with operations and stakeholders to make sure the relevant business problems are identified, defined, and structured - including context, success measures, and potential challenges.
- Employ a planned and structured approach to define and evaluate multiple solutions to complex problems, communicate results, insights, and recommendations to guide actions and decision making.
About You
As a successful candidate you will possess the following:
- Proven field-based experience working on projects in mining, energy or infrastructure industries.
- Tertiary qualifications in an Engineering related discipline.
- Capability in project scoping, project planning and executing work using a disciplined approach to attain project goals.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, and ability to influence stakeholders with different areas of expertise and experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to provide solutions that may include capital project and portfolio optimisation within tight schedules.
- Experience working on Capital projects and Capital Portfolio Optimisation initiatives in heavy industries is desirable.
Location and Roster
In this full-time role, we have flexibility for you to be base in our Australia corporate offices in either Brisbane, Adelaide, or Perth. You will be working on Monday-Friday roster.
