Groote Eylandt Mining Company (GEMCO), a South32 Company, is one of the world's largest manganese mining and concentrating operations located in the Northern Territory. The operation is accountable for over 20% of the worlds' manganese ore production. GEMCO controls and operates all aspects of mining, processing, logistics and shipping on Groote Eylandt.

About the role

This role is a 7:7 roster, FIFO Darwin or Cairns or can be offered as residential on a full-time ongoing basis. 

Reporting to the Lead Digital Technology, you will integrate Process Control Systems that enable continuous and efficient operations across GEMCO’s processing and dispatching facilities.

You will provide specialist application and technical advice and manage external suppliers.

Key accountabilities -

• Support the transition of new or enhanced technology services
• Configuration and management of the Process Control Network including development, deployment, testing and optimisation of the network
• Build interfaces between different PLC Control Systems, Instrumentation, SCADA, HMI, MES, Historian
• Effectively fault find, diagnose and resolve processing problems

About you

You will have a passion and commitment to workplace safety and have experience working in a similar role within Mining or Heavy Industry.

In addition, you will have-

• Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Degree qualification in Electrical engineering or similar
• Electrical trade certificate desirable
• Knowledge of Citect/SCADA systems
• Experience with modification and review of electrical and P&ID drawings
• Knowledge of TIA Portal Programming Tools
• Ability to configure and trouble shoot Industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Profinet)
