Process Engineer

Work Location: Christmas Creek. Fortescue’s Christmas Creek mine is located on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people.

Roster: 8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth

Fortescue Metals Group is seeking a Process Engineer at Christmas Creek that embodies the Fortescue Values on a daily basis. Reporting to the Senior Process Engineer, this position will be responsible for identifying and driving metallurgical improvement projects to optimise upgrade and production performance. Provide metallurgical support across multiple departments in FMG. This includes being accountable for onsite and offsite process improvement test-work programs

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Development and delivery of safety projects to achieve zero harm
  • Ensuring adherence to policy framework for HSEC standards and procedures
  • Ensure compliance to the FMG standards and statutory obligations
  • Delivery of daily and weekly reporting duties in a timely and accurate manner
  • Developing and driving regular and adhoc plant sampling exercise
  • Provide commissioning and ramp-up support to operations (both existing and developing projects) to ensure they meet business requirements in terms of production throughput, metallurgical recovery and cost optimisation
  • Developing maintenance strategy for metallurgy equipment

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Process, Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy with experience working as a process engineer within a process plant (iron ore preferable) desirable
  • An understanding of both production and maintenance strategies for large scale processing plants
  • Exposure to mass balancing, including process modelling software desirable
  • A high commitment to safety and strive to achieve zero harm
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic statistical analysis
