We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia.
Managed by Yancoal, Cameby Downs is a small open cut thermal coal mine in the Surat Basin in southern Queensland, between Chinchilla and Miles. We employ approximately 150 people, and aim to support our local communities.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Reporting to the CHPP Superintendent, you will be part of a dynamic and motivated team. The role will require you to:
- Provide technical expertise for the optimisation and continuous improvement of the CHPP
- Ensure operational and metallurgical efficiency KPI's are achieved
- Provide recommendations and support the implementation of process improvements
- Support plant operators with operational and maintenance issues
- Monitor and minimise the use of consumables used in the coal process plant, including screening media, process media and centrifuges
- Maximise plant operational availability throughout by continually reviewing and optimising circuit performance
- Liaise with site coal sampling and analysis laboratory for all coal sampling and analysis requirements
- Liaise with other site departments for coal flow and quality information and formulate plant feed blends and wash strategies to maximise plant yield and meet coal customers specifications
- Maintain a safe workplace by ensuring adherence to all CDM SHMS policies and procedures
- Perform any ad-hoc duties as reasonably requested
Skills and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Process Engineering or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience as a Process Engineer, ideally at an operational open cut coal mine site
- Ability to source and statistically analyse data to facilitate management decision making
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proactive attitude
- Effective problem solving and decision-making ability
