About the Role

Reporting to the IROC+ Superintendent Process Engineering, this position is responsible for identifying opportunities and delivering technical solutions to ensure that the Coal Handling Preparation Plant (CHPP) achieves production, efficiency and quality targets. The IROC+ Process Engineering team support production facing improvement and stability activities to concentrate efforts in achieving process control excellence. The IROC+ Process Engineering team are focussed on continuous improvement and are embedded in the routines of the existing Operations Production and Technical teams to support the realisation of both safety and productivity initiatives. This is a Brisbane based role working Monday to Friday offering flexible work arrangements. In this role you will:  

  • Analyse and improve processing systems to maximise coal recovery and production volume.
  • Identify and deliver projects to optimise CHPP operation in terms of Safety, Volume and Cost.
  • Work closely with Operations, Maintenance and Coal Mining personnel to ensure that both volume and quality targets are met.
  • Drive a culture with a focus on reducing costs through maximising recovery, minimising down time and eliminating waste.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring of graduate engineers.
  • Achieve best practice for CHPP operating processes through application of the BMA Processing Standards.

About You

Ideally you will have a Tertiary Degree in Engineering along with demonstrated experience in process optimisation, control systems engineering and process plant operations. You will have:  

  • Technical capability in process control & ability to engage, lead change and delivery of outcomes;
  • Experience in operational technology, process control and/or have a control systems or metallurgical or instrumentation background;
  • Ability to multi-task and to meet tight deadlines & ability to adapt to change and remain calm under changing circumstances;
  • Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills are critical to this role;
  • Strong desire to identify and implement improvements to plant process control;
  • Stakeholder engagement and strong collaboration with Production, Technical, Metallurgical and Process Safety personnel will be required to maximise performance.
