Energy Resources of Australia Ltd (ERA) is one Australia’s longest continually operating uranium mine. ERA has an excellent track record of reliably supplying customers. Uranium has been mined at Ranger for three decades. Ranger mine is one of only three mines in the world to produce in excess of 100,000 tons of uranium oxide.
ERA’s Ranger mine is located 8 km east of Jabiru and 260 km east of Darwin, located in Australia’s Northern Territory.

We are looking for a Process Engineer Water Treatment to join our Closure Support team to provide technical support to water treatment plant operations and maintenance, analyse system performance and ultimately improve on the operational efficiency of the Water Treatment Plants.
This role is a great opportunity enthusiastic and ambitious individual seeking a challenging and rewarding role. The opportunity exists to work with both operations and maintenance teams to deliver process improvement projects and improve operating efficiency at the Water Treatment Plants. Reporting to the Senior Process Engineer, you will be:
- Analyse operating procedures, process data trends, and equipment unit operation functions to optimize the process to achieve or exceed production plans
- Mentoring process technicians to help develop their expertise in process evaluation, diagnostic, and problem solving skills
- Provide input to maintenance scheduling, preventative and predictive maintenance optimization, material selection and specification
- Collaborate and facilitate exchange of information and expertise with internal stakeholders
- Develop weekly, monthly and annual reporting of the Water Treatment Plant and supporting infrastructure performance
- Working closely with Water Treatment plants Control Room Operators, operations and maintenance teams to safely maximize production and quality
- Supporting the continuous improvement of a Safe and Healthy working environment through personal commitment safety and ensure personal compliance with the specific Safety & Health System responsibilities
- Sustain process safety management within the plant through execution of HAZOPs and improvement of process instrumentation
What you will bring
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary level qualifications in Chemical, Mechanical or Process Engineering
- A “C” Class driver’s licence
- Demonstrated ability to identify and address improvement opportunities in a similar environment
- Strong focus and background in safety improvement
- Technical skills across a broad range of areas within Water and/or Wastewater Treatment
- Ability to prepare technical reports on small to medium projects and prepare sections of larger reports with minimal correction;
- Ability to break down complex problems, develop cohesive strategic responses, and then present to internal stakeholders to come to an agreement on a preferred way forward;
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Experience with water treatment plant commissioning
- Previous experience in SAP
- A working understanding of instrumentation and process control systems

ERA’s Ranger mine is located eight kilometres east of Jabiru and 260 kilometres east of Darwin, located in Australia’s Northern Territory.
The mine lies within the 79 square kilometre Ranger Project Area. Ranger mine is an open cut mine which commenced commercial production of drummed uranium oxide (U3O8) in 1981.
ERA sells its product to power utilities in Asia, Europe and North America under strict international and Australian Government safeguards. It maintains long term relationships with customers by providing consistent and reliable supply of uranium oxide to meet their energy needs.
The Ranger Project Area and the Jabiluka lease are located on Aboriginal land, and surrounded by, but separate from, the World Heritage Listed Kakadu National Park.
