The position of Process Operator - Reconstruction forms part of the Cell Reconstruction team and is accountable for activities to support the Potroom department and associated tasks. Reporting to the Reconstruction Crew Leader this role is a great opportunity for an individual who is passionate about safety, enjoys being active at work, shows initiative and is a team player. Duties include:

  • Perform risk assessment and hazard identification
  • Operation of cranes and reconstruction mechanical equipment
  • Forklift operations
  • General manual handling
  • Operating power tools
  • Basic welding and oxy/lpg cutting
  • Excavator operations

Your hours of work will include a 12 hour rotating roster within a dynamic and friendly culture, where we are renowned for a strong focus on safety. This position includes a generous shift allowance, to compensate for any weekends or public holidays worked as part of your rotating roster. Shifts hours are from 6:00am – 6:00pm.

  • Forklift, Excavator and Manual Handling experience is well regarded, though are not mandatory

Where you’ll be working

Operated by RioTinto, Bell Bay Aluminium has been in operation since 1955 and was the first smelter built in the southern hemisphere. The smelter produces around 200,000 tonnes of aluminium each year and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. The site has a workforce of 445 employees with an additional 100+ contractors on site at any one time.
