Title: Project Engineer (Process)

Work location: Perth based (Hazelmere)

Roster: 5/2 Roster (Mon to Fri)

In support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Green Fleet projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining and marine fleet

Based out of our new Hazelmere R&D facility and reporting to the Marine Project Manager, we are presently looking for an experienced Project Engineer (with extensive Process Engineering experience) to join the team

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Driving the Ammonia Fuel Delivery package as part of the marine project scope
  • Capable of prioritizing and delivering work in a fast-moving environment
  • Ability to adjust to change quickly and adapt to new requirements
  • Proactively deliver on the company’s stretch targets
  • Guide engineering team members and external vendors to deliver the project objective
  • Interpret engineering drawings, documents, specifications, and scopes
  • Resolution of technical and design issues
  • Ensure compliance to the project management process by project owners
  • Liaising with a range of key stakeholders on all technical aspects of projects
  • Providing regular updates to the Project Manager including work progress, risks, and priorities
  • Direct contact with design scopes involving fabrication, assembly, testing and commissioning of ammonia systems

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Chemical, Mechanical, or Process engineering degree
  • Min 8 years industry/professional experience.
  • Process Engineering Design (Concept, FEED, Detailed Design) incl. experience reviewing and inputting to SOW, BOD, Technical Bid Evaluation
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary engineering team
  • Developing, reviewing, and approving process engineering deliverables
    • PFD, H&MB, P&IDs, C&E
    • Calculations – relief, blowdown, equipment sizing (control valves, piping, heat exchangers, separators)
  • Aspen HYSYS simulation incl. EDR and Blowdown modules, dynamic simulation highly regarded
  • Process lead and coordinating risk assessment workshops – i.e. HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID
  • Developing project CTR (cost, time, resource) for engineers
  • Experience with ammonia highly regarded
  • Experience in operations, construction, and commissioning highly regarded
  • Experience in project management highly regarded
  • Hazardous Area design and component selection experience desired
  • Ability to work across multiple work fronts in a high-pressure environment
  • High commitment to safety
  • Experience in preparing detailed scope of works
  • Experience participating / coordinating in a purchasing tender process
  • Experience in contractor engagement and contractor management process
  • Excellent interpersonal awareness with ability to work well in a team
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a drive for excellence
