We are currently looking for a Process & Quality Engineer to join our Dampier Port Operations team. This role is a residential role, and the successful candidate will be required to live in Karratha or Dampier.
As the Engineer Process & Quality, you will be responsible for leading a team of Quality Measurement Technicians and continuously enhancing our sampling and quality measurement standards. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in delivering essential process engineering services to support operations at Dampier Ports.
Reporting to the Superintendent Process & Technical, you will:
- Provide supervision and leadership to Quality Measurement Technicians
- Manage compliance to ISO 9001:2015 certification and Rio Tinto internal quality measurement standards
- Develop and maintain quality assurance KPI’s and monitoring systems
- Providing support in developing processing metrics, ensuring data fidelity and accurate reporting.
- Identifying and implementing process improvement initiatives to support current and future strategy and driving best practice in the Iron Ore business.
- Fostering a culture of zero harm.
About you
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Process/Minerals Processing Engineering or Metallurgy
- Significant experience in managing sampling systems, quality measurement laboratories and fixed plant optimisation projects.
- Working knowledge of laboratory QA/QC programs and related ISO and AS standards.
- A manual C Class drivers licence
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills
- The motivation and ability to be self-driven and work autonomously
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Experience in laboratory data management platforms
- Experience in Microsoft suite of programs including Power BI
- A growth mindset & drive, to be open to new ideas to continuously improve and support our Plant, our Team & ourselves
- A ‘C’ class Australian manual driver’s license is required.
Where you will be working
Our port facilities consist of four shipping terminals located on the Pilbara coast at Dampier and Cape Lambert which form an essential part of our logistics process. Each terminal has facilities for train unloading, iron ore stockpiling, product blending and ship loading.
