Position: Process Safety Engineer – Green Industry

Work location: Perth based (Hazelmere)

Roster: 5:2

Based at our new Hazelmere R&D facility, we are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced candidate for the role of Process Safety Engineer.

Reporting to the Lead Process Safety and Risk Engineer, this role will provide process safety expertise in planning, designing, construction, testing and maintenance phases across a range of green fleet projects.  The successful candidate will also support engagement with internal, community, commercial and regulatory stakeholders.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Performing process safety and risk engineering duties within planning, design, construction, testing and maintenance of Green Industry projects.
  • Preparing for and coordinating safety studies and workshops including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, Consequence Modelling, and Bowtie Analysis.
  • Supporting the development of Safety Requirements Specifications for safety instrumented functions
  • Providing technical safety expertise to project design teams to support safety in design
  • Technical review of safety study reports
  • Coordinating project phase safety reviews including pre start up safety reviews
  • Facilitating safety and risk workshops where required
  • Developing of critical control performance standards
  • Supporting close out of safety study actions
  • Contributing to the development of standards, procedures, guidelines and training materials for the effective implementation of the Process Safety Management System
  • Ensuring process safety standards are applied consistently to all phases of projects

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering
  • Experience in chemical processing or related industry
  • Knowledge of Australian and applicable international codes and standards as well as the applicable statutory requirements  
  • Safety in design engineering experience
  • Experience in delivery and facilitation of process safety studies
  • Excellent engagement skills across all business levels and with both staff and contractors
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate in a dynamic and challenging environment
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Experience with functional safety is desirable.
  • Experience with heavy mining equipment is desirable
