About Nickel West

Located 30 kilometres south of the Perth, the Nickel West Kwinana produces nickel briquettes and nickel powder.  While many employees live in Perth, Fremantle and Mandurah, the Kwinana region is a thriving coastal township with three public beaches, excellent schools, modern shopping facilities.  As part of our commitment to health and safety Nickel West Kwinana is a smoke free operation.   We are investing in a Nickel Sulphate plant to be built at our Kwinana refinery south of Perth. We believe there are significant competitive advantages for Nickel West to move downstream into the battery chemical business.

About the Role

We are currently seeking Process Technicians to join our team at BHP's Nickel West Kwinana Refinery to contribute to operation and monitoring of plant equipment/machinery for mineral refining and processing. Apply technical expertise to solve problems and deliver to the customer.   The successful individuals will demonstrate the following:  

  • Safe operation of the Fixed Plant
  • Contributing to our safety and continuous improvement culture
  • Proficiency with computer based planning systems, ideally 1SAP
  • Maintain a high level working knowledge of safety processes
  • Ability to work the Sportsman's Roster – 2D2N5X 2D3N4X 3D2N5X

About You

As the ideal candidate you will possess:

  • High level of safety focus – on keeping themselves safe and working safely in a team
  • To work safely and efficiently on a potentially hazardous chemical plant
  • Currently working in, or familiar with mineral or chemical processing operations is desirable 
  • C Class Driver’s Licence
  • Forklift ticket desirable 
  • Able to work unsupervised and handle a complexity of tasks in safe and effective manner
  • Strong communication skills
  • A positive attitude towards being a team player
