Our Telfer operation in Australia is now recruiting for the positions of Process Technician- Leading Hand.

Telfer Operations

Located in the Great Sandy Desert in East Pilbara, Western Australia, Telfer is a fly in out fly out operation from Perth which recognises the importance of work-life balance.  We provide comfortable, well-furnished rooms with Foxtel, along with site offers of quality food with healthy options, medical care, sports, and recreation activities.  Families are welcomed several times a year to open days to support our community feel at Telfer. 

The Role

Reporting into the Production Supervisors, we are seeking two Leading hands to support Crew A and B as a part of the Ore Processing Department at Telfer. This position is on an 8/6 (days) rotating with a 7/7 (nights) roster.

This role will see you assisting with plant monitoring whilst coordinating and coaching technicians on site to ensure continuous improvement. Providing input into processing plant production plans, coordinating with other departments, conducting training of staff and potentially assisting with recruitment requirements.

Other accountabilities of the role include:

  • Monitor all areas of the process plant against the approved production plan, identify variances and implement corrective action, scheduling and coordinating shift personnel and ore processing equipment to meet approved production plans.
  • Liaise with maintenance personnel in fulfilling planned maintenance programmes and breakdowns response including participation in shutdowns.
  • Ensure the operators have the tools required to carry out their duties in a safe and productive manner.
  • Address performance by way of regular meetings with staff on an individual as well as on a team basis to set objectives, evaluate performance and provide the necessary feedback and support.
  • Ensure that at end of shift, all reporting requirements have been completed along with an effective handover to cross shift personnel.
  • Assist Ore Processing Supervisors and Management with the conduct of investigations, ICAMS and audits.

 In addition, you will be required to have:

  • Background within mining processing plant environment
  • Ability to promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Ability to lead small teams.
  • Computer skills- SAP exposure will be highly regarded.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • C Class Manual licence required
