About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Processing Engineer to join our high‑performing team. You will play a critical role in the processing aspects of plant operation including analysis and interpretation of production data and direction of plant operations to achieve the required performance.

Working a 5/2/4/3 or 5/2/4/3/9/5/4/3 FIFO roster from Perth or 5 days on 2 days off Residential roster, this hands‑on, site‑based role focuses on supporting plant performance.

The Process Engineers are responsible for regularly reporting plant processing performance, implement continuous improvement projects, and sustainably reduce operating costs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Can independently apply Process Engineering-related terminology, theory, and navigate key processes and activities, including process analysis, plant design, and mass balances

  • Identifies operational bottlenecks to mitigate risk and achieve production forecasts and requirements including quality specifications.

  • Determines the underlying cause of problems and evaluates multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems.

  • Sources information, plans and conducts analyses to support evidence based decision making to identify areas for process improvement and redesign processes accordingly.

  • Identifies and assesses risks, makes risk informed decisions, uses BHP's risk management framework and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.

  • Oversees and improves end to end processing production performance and operating conditions to increase recovery, achievement of production targets and optimise inputs.

  • Plans, tracks the delivery of and manages a project to generate value and drive the achievement of project outcomes.

  • Plans, monitors and audits radioactive sources in compliance with Radiation Management Plan.

  • Provides expertise to Processing Production department in analysis of performance indicators and metrics.

  • Provides technical expertise to the Processing Production department to support work quality and safe execution of operational work.

  • Supports the BHP Health, Safety, Environment and Community management, reporting, and investigation requirements.

About You

Qualifications/skills include:

  • A tertiary degree or diploma, preferably Chemical Engineering, Minerals Processing, or a related field.

  • Two years of experience in the minerals industry is required.

  • Iron ore processing plant knowledge is desirable.

  • Effective in developing presentations and reports

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, One Note, SharePoint, etc).

  • Proficient in Delay Accounting System, Citect, PI, and other analytical programs

  • Competent in 1SAP, FIORI, Event Management System, and other reporting programs.
