About the role
We are looking for a Procurement Category Specialist to be part of the Regional Good and Services team. You will work closely with internal business and procurement stakeholders and form strong partnerships with our key contract partners.
We are looking for a highly driven and commercially astute individual, who has a desire to deliver value within the portfolio, minimise risk for Rio Tinto and deliver innovative contract management solutions.

Key Responsibilities of the role
- Support the labour and maintenance team’s success by managing a portfolio of key contract partners.
- Contribute to a strong team culture, which is respectful and empowering whilst delivering excellence
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and cross-functional working groups to deliver against the category’s strategic priorities.
- Establish long term, sustainable relationships with key contract partners, based on innovation, sustainability and mutual value creation.
- Undertake the day-to-day contract management activities in support of Rio Tinto’s key supply partnerships.
- Manage regional maintenance contracts on a day-to-day basis and deliver value through contract and supplier relationship management.
- Contribute to the development and deployment of labour and maintenance strategies.
- Support category value creation initiatives and contribute your ideas and energy to innovate and build capability and knowledge within the category.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- Strong team player mindset with the desire to positively contribute to an engaged and progressive culture
- A solid background in strategic procurement, end-to-end process and contracting, preferably in labour and/or maintenance categories
- Strong experience in category management with proven abilities to develop, negotiate and implement commercial strategies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to constructively influence others
- A passion for problem solving and agile procurement processes
- Tertiary qualification in business or a related discipline

Where you will be working
This role is based the Perth CBD in the Central Park offices, with flexible working arrangements available.
