The Global Fixed Equipment (FE) Procurement team is currently recruiting for a permanent Category Specialist (‘J’ band) based in the Perth CBD.
This role is a significant opportunity for an individual with relevant procurement experience, to become a part of a very successful global team that manages spend in excess of $1B per annum.
The position involves management of assigned global FE categories from an end-to-end perspective (across all 5 phases) i.e. Fact Base, Source-to-Award and post contract SRM / continuous improvement activities that align with ever-changing global business requirements.
This demanding role will require a commercially astute (full appreciation of TCO) individual who possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills – in addition to a genuine desire to succeed, deliver results and become a key FE team member and contributor
Reporting to the Manager, Materials Handling and Processing Equipment, the key expectations for the role include:
- Collating and analysing market intelligence on key FE categories and OEMs.
- Delivering rigorous ‘fact base’ outcomes that consider external/internal dynamics that will be the basis of the category strategy and sourcing programs (with the support of our analysts).
- Managing the development and implementation of comprehensive regional and/or global category management strategies i.e. end-to-end/5 Phases.
- Undertaking category sourcing activities including the development, negotiation and execution/implementation of regional/global contracts.
- Undertaking SRM activities with preferred suppliers in order to ensure; sustained TCO continuous improvement, contract compliance, innovation that aligns with business needs (challenging the status-quo), KPI performance review, acting as a change driver etc.
- Building and maintaining robust and productive global relationships with key internal stakeholders e.g. AMES, Operations, D&T, Capex, Legal, Local/Indigenous, China, Decarbonisation amongst many others - in order to ensure that category strategies continue to align with RT priorities.
- Managing cross-functional working groups to ensure that RT requirements are fully understood and satisfied as part of the FE strategies.

- Extremely strong communication skills (written and verbal); professional, succinct and clear
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and manage potential conflict in a constructive and effective manner
- Proven track record of achieving outcomes through negotiation, influencing and collaboration
- Strong track record of building robust and productive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Significant commercial acumen and negotiation experience
- An appreciation of end-to-end Category management methodologies
- Factual, data-driven decision making
- Proactive skills to challenge the status-quo and possess strong commercial intuition.
- Strong project management, problem solving and analytical skills
- Effective time management skills; the ability to balance multiple and competing priorities.
- A positive disposition that reflects a strong drive and ambition to succeed
