About the role
We are looking for applicants to join our Global Procurement Team in a Heavy Mining Equipment Mining Technology role to be based in our Perth office.
The role will be responsible to support the Global Category team in the development, implementation and governance of category strategies, and management of the supply chain for the delivery of mining technologies and services to our mining operations globally. This includes developing and maintaining strong relationships with the Business Units and Suppliers to oversee the supply chain and contract management of Rio Tinto’s global / regional contracts for mining technology and services to ensure supply security, contract compliance and continuous improvement.
This role includes some work travel to support our operations globally and participation in some business calls outside of office hours, when necessary.
Reporting to the Principal HME Global Commercial Strategy- Procurement, you will be:
- Maintaining the highest standard of health and safety performance by implementing a personal safety plan, exhibiting positive safety behaviors, leading by example with colleagues and acting in accordance with Rio Tinto Health, Safety and Environmental policies
- Developing and maintaining strong customer relationships with Business Units and engaging in stakeholder engagement at all levels of the organization
- Developing strong working relationships with suppliers to leverage suppliers’ strengths in the value chain and realise the full contractual value for both parties
- Developing strong working relationships with HME Procurement colleagues by assisting team members with mining technology project and category support
- Monitoring the global mining technology markets which includes market supply/demand analysis, key market drivers, internal forecasts, future trend analysis and changes to technology & regulatory environments
- Following the Rio Tinto Procurement strategic sourcing framework with specific emphasis on contract implementation and contract management
- Managing and optimising the inbound supply chain to ensure security of supply for the business
- Managing the development and implementation of continuous improvement programmes with suppliers and Business Units
- Measuring and reporting on supplier Key Performance Indicators (KPI) while leading supplier review meetings
- Ensuring supplier compliance to Rio Tinto’s HSEC Standards and critical risk management processes
About you
- Bachelor degree in Commerce, Technology or a relevant mining related degree is advantageous
- Significant experience within commercial, technology or supply chain
- Domain knowledge of mining technologies and/or heavy mining equipment and/or technical expertise in the category
- Strong commercial acumen with proven category and contract management capabilities
- Strong project management, problem solving and customer relationship management skills
- Ability to communicate succinctly verbally and in written form with both internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to achieve outcomes through influencing and collaboration with others
- Ability to work unsupervised and be a self-starter
- Background in mining or technology related industry is advantageous
