Procurement Specialist – Greater Tom Price (GTP) - Fixed Term

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our BP – West Pilbara team on a 16-months contract.  We are looking for an experienced procurement specialist to work closely with our GTP Operations. In this role, you will play a key role in determining goods/services  requirements and collaborating with the global and regional categories team to ensure the alignment of category strategies and business priorities.  The Procurement Specialist will have a unique business partnering responsibility, being the first point of contact for the operation and facilitating control point interactions with the wider procurement team. You will also have the opportunity to travel to site every second week for approximately 2-3 days. 

This role presents an exciting opportunity for someone with a partnership mindset and a desire to add value by collaborating closely with stakeholders to optimize the path forward in terms of supply for our Assets.

The Business Partner position not only offers a unique chance to expand your understanding of our Procurement processes but also provides a platform to gain knowledge across all areas within Procurement, supporting personal and professional growth.

As the Procurement Business Partner, GBO you will report directly to the Procurement Business Partner – West Pilbara, working closely with her to:

  • Align the Asset priorities with the Global and Regional category sourcing strategies.

  • Contribute to the commercial strategies by considering site requirements, local procurement and emerging market opportunities, total cost of ownership,P2P integration and security of medium to long term supply.

  • You will play a crucial role in supporting the Asset and category teams to deliver maximum value to the Asset, making you an integral part of our team.

  • Manage key suppliers’ performance and reinforce KPI’s as necessary.

  • Identify and monitor procurement initiatives and support the mitigation of any impact to the Asset.

  • Solve for site specific requirements while balancing the contribution to broader strategies and leverage opportunities; and

  • Drive stakeholder compliance in the procurement process.

What you’ll bring

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Strong knowledge of procurement practices and responsibilities, supported by operational (mining) experience will be advantageous.

  • Excellent communication skills to influence, engage and build strong rapport with key stakeholders

  • Effective time management skills, the ability to balance multiple and competing priorities

  • Creative problem-solving skills with a strategic outlook and analytical capabilities

  • Commercial acumen coupled with the ability to analyse and interpret contracts and category strategies
