About the role
We are looking for a Procurement Specialist, Mobile Equipment within the Global Mobile Equipment team in procurement.
This critical role in Global Mobile Equipment (ME) Procurement team will shape Rio Tinto’s future ME strategy by leading sourcing and commercial frameworks for battery electric equipment, executing the HME25 China strategy, managing APAC Surface Drilling supplier relationships, and co-ordinating global spend optimization. It requires close collaboration with global Business Units, the Diesel Transition Program, RTP Light Mobile Equipment, Underground Heavy Mobile Equipment, and China Sourcing teams.
Reporting to the Global Category Manager, Mobile Equipment, you will:
Lead strategic sourcing for APAC surface drilling and autonomous technology, developing commercial strategies and managing supplier relationships to drive long-term value.
Oversee sourcing and contracting for Battery Electric Mobile Equipment, ensuring alignment with the Diesel Transition Program, UG HME and LME teams, and the HME25 Global Strategy and Framework Agreements.
Drive execution of the global HME25 China Mobile Equipment Strategy, including planning, sourcing, and contracting for China-based trials and global equipment purchases.
Manage global spend optimization, directing the category prioritization, tracking and delivery of spend optimizations initiatives.
Provide ad hoc support to Underground HME sourcing and key projects including Oyu Tolgoi, KUC, Resolution, and Jadar.
Contribute to the broader HME25 Strategy rollout, supporting implementation across the full HME category.
What you’ll bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will ideally have:
Demonstrated experience in a strategic procurement role, contracting, or commercial strategy position
A sound understanding of category management
Previous experience in Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME), mining industry and/or equipment related sectors is desirable
Strong project management, problem solving and analytical skills
Tertiary qualifications in business, legal, engineering, or a related discipline would be advantageous
Display the attitude and ability to foster a positive team culture within a diverse environment
