Rio Tinto is building a world-class Digital Products team. We're establishing a Product Management team to support our Product portfolio and guide our business-critical programs of work.
About the role

Planning and scheduling are key capabilities in our business. Our ability to effectively plan and schedule large scale, integrated systems of assets - across mine, rail and port operations – sets us apart, as a source of competitive advantage. As such, we’ve developed (and continue to develop) a number of bespoke, integrated digital products in these domains.
Reporting to the Senior Product Manager – Operations Planning, the Product Manager is the primary IS&T contact for scheduling products and platforms across the group. Working closely with business stakeholders, as part of blended teams, you’ll collaborate widely with senior stakeholders, to articulate and then drive product vision, strategy and roadmaps.

Demonstrated understanding of product lifecycle management, with proven ability to manage and develop product roadmaps and product strategies.
Familiarity / exposure to product value frameworks and product commercialisation highly regarded.
Working knowledge and experience with Agile frameworks.
Strategic and commercial acumen, acting as a trusted advisor to influence senior management and stakeholder decisions.
Demonstrated product management experience in planning, scheduling and inventory management contexts highly regarded.
Experience in developing digital products using optimisation and simulation techniques.
Exhibit a forward-thinking mindset - envisioning future states of digital products in alignment with evolving business conditions and strategies, to drive vision and strategy for scheduling products.
Analytical skills, to anticipate challenges and devise innovative solutions, maintaining a focus on delivering high-quality product outcomes.
Focus on measurable outcomes, driving teams towards achieving business targets and delivering exceptional value to customers.
Ability to empathetically guide, coach and mentor Associate Product Managers, encouraging professional growth and foster a supportive environment.
Specific accountabilities for the Product Manager, include:
Provide oversight to supporting functions in Design, Engineering and Data and Analytics.
A focus on problem definition and value realisation - providing strategic recommendations into product viability, clearly linked to return on investment.
Build and maintain trust with stakeholders through consistent, high-quality product delivery and effective communication.
What you will bring
A graduate degree in a relevant field.
At least 5 years Product Management experience.
Experience in working across mining value chains or business improvement roles is desirable.
Experience creating and delivering presentations to both technical and business audiences.
Excellent stakeholder management skills. Prior experience with managing large groups of stakeholders.
Broad understanding of product lifecycle management.
Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills.
Strong problem-solving skills demonstrated by the ability to structure issues and analyse alternative solutions.
Excellent communication skills - being able to communicate effectively both strategic vision and specific details to various stakeholders, from leadership to individual team members and technical teams.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
