Rio Tinto is building a world-class Digital Products team. We're establishing a Product Management team to support our Product portfolio and guide our business-critical programs of work.

About the role

We're seeking a passionate Product Manager – Land Access and Heritage, to drive digital roadmaps and value from our applications and platforms in the areas of land access approvals and traditional owner engagement.

The process of mining-related land access approvals is key to achieving many of Rio Tinto’s long-term objectives that cover commercial, operational, environmental, and community engagement priorities. We’re developing bespoke digital products that will ultimately be deployed globally to add strength to our social license-to-operate on top of the significant risk, productivity and efficiency benefits.

As part of the Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) division, the Product Manager – Land Access & Heritage is the primary IS&T contact for land access products and related initiatives across the group. Working closely with business stakeholders, as part of blended teams, you’ll collaborate widely with senior stakeholders, to articulate and then drive product vision, strategy and roadmaps.

· Demonstrated understanding of product lifecycle management, with proven ability to manage and develop product strategies.

· Working knowledge and experience with Agile frameworks.

· Strategic and commercial acumen, acting as a trusted advisor to influence senior management and stakeholder decisions.

· Analytical skills, to anticipate challenges and devise innovative solutions, maintaining a focus on delivering high-quality product outcomes.

· Focus on measurable outcomes, driving teams towards achieving business targets and delivering exceptional value to customers.

· Ability to empathetically guide, coach and mentor Associate Product Managers, encouraging professional growth and foster a supportive environment.

· Practices open and clear communication, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and aligned with the product’s progress and direction.

Specific accountabilities for the Product Manager – Land Access and Heritage, include:

· Provide the focus on problem definition and value realisation - providing strategic recommendations into product viability, clearly linked to return on investment.

· Envisioning future states of digital products in alignment with evolving business conditions and strategies, to drive vision and strategy for core products.

· Lead the planning and execution of scoping, requirements definition, and prioritization for complex initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals.

· Analyse business and market trends as well as end-user data to identify opportunities and understand customer needs, informing investment proposals, product strategies, and buy versus build versus re-use decisions.

· Collaborate with internal leadership, subject matter experts, and key business stakeholders to define and prioritize roadmaps of digital solutions linked to value cases and customer requirements.

· Provide oversight and drive collaboration with related functions across Design, Engineering, Product Operations and Data & Analytics.

· Monitor product performance continuously to ensure it meets desired business outcomes and adjust strategies as necessary.

· Build and maintain trust with stakeholders through consistent, high-quality product delivery and effective communication.

· Ensure regular alignment on product direction with key stakeholders and ensuring important product-related decisions are made with effective collaboration.

About you

· A graduate degree in a relevant field.

· At least 5 years Product Management experience.

· Demonstrated product management experience in environmental and/or approvals contexts in mining highly regarded.

· Experience creating and delivering presentations to both technical and business audiences.

· Excellent stakeholder management skills. Prior experience with managing large groups of stakeholders.

· Broad understanding of product lifecycle management.

· Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills.

· Strong problem-solving skills demonstrated by the ability to structure issues and analyse alternative solutions.

· Excellent communication skills - being able to communicate effectively both strategic vision and specific details to various stakeholders, from leadership to individual team members and technical teams.

· Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

· Strong organisational and time-management skills.
