About the Role

The role can be based in Perth or Brisbane.

As a Product Owner you will play a key role supporting BHP’s Operations Services. BHP’s approach to application portfolio management focuses on capability-based portfolios, and application roadmaps to minimise duplication and reduce cost.

As a Product Owner, you will:

  • Embed a culture of care and operational performance by being a visible leader of a globally diverse team (in both Australia and with our offshore partners).
  • Demonstration leadership in the management of safety and business risks to ensure a safe and resilient BHP.
  • Identify, build and develop team capability through ongoing and regular coaching and development.
  • Develop strong partnerships that enable the execution of value adding initiatives that solve customer challenges.
  • Act as the technology interface to the wider Operations Services team 
  • Identify opportunities for business value enhancement while implementing strategic cost reduction measures to optimize overall operational efficiency.
  • Play a key role in managing the application portfolio as well as key applications in that portfolio.
  • Define and execute 90-day plans Assess and prioritize ad-hoc or out-of-cycle demands from customers and manage the backlog.
  • Supports the management of vendor/customer selection, contracts, and performance to maximise operational and financial outcomes and mitigate BHP's exposure to risk.

About You

  • Demonstrate strong Team Leadership capabilities to inspire and guide cross functional teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. 
  • Outstanding Stakeholder Management skills to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking capability with an ability to lead change within BHP and partner ecosystem.
  • Proven Problem-Solving Skills to address challenges and find innovative solutions to enhance operational processes through technology and the use of multiple data points.
  • Demonstrate analytical thinking skills to evaluate data and requirements to make informed decisions, ensuring the product meets business objectives.
  • Background in Project Management to coordinate tasks, set priorities, and manage timelines to deliver products on cost and schedule.
  • Experience in Cost Management: to ensure financial sustainability and resource optimization.
