Our Opportunity

 

Work Location: Perth. Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

 

Roster: Monday - Friday 

 

Lead the vision and delivery of AI products for mine planning, exploration and drilling, turning operational needs into practical solutions that create measurable value. Work with technical and operational teams to guide development, support adoption and ensure products are fit for purpose and class leading.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the Mine Planning, Exploration and Drilling AI product vision, roadmap and priorities.
  • Lead discovery with mine planning, geology, exploration and drilling teams to identify high-value problems and practical AI-enabled solutions.
  • Develop business cases, including value opportunity, delivery approach, risks and success measures.
  • Own and prioritise product backlogs, user stories, acceptance criteria and release scope.
  • Provide technical leadership across AI product development, ensuring solutions reflect domain context, uncertainty and operational constraints.
  • Work with mine planners, geologists, exploration and drilling teams, data scientists, software engineers, automation specialists and vendors to deliver quality product increments.
  • Guide the application of AI, optimisation, advanced analytics and automation across areas such as geological modelling, mine planning, drill planning and autonomous or robotic drilling.
  • Drive adoption through stakeholder engagement, trials, demos, training and feedback loops.
  • Define and track product performance metrics and realised business impact.
  • Ensure products include appropriate technical assurance, governance, security, data and responsible AI controls.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Product ownership or product management experience delivering digital, AI, analytics, automation or decision-support products.
  • Experience in mining, geology, exploration, drilling, resource development, mine planning or a related technical field.
  • Experience taking products from discovery and prototype through pilot, adoption and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams spanning technical specialists, operational users, data scientists, software engineers and automation teams.
  • Practical understanding of mining and spatial data, operational constraints and uncertainty in planning and technical decision-making.
  • Familiarity with AI and technology applications including machine learning, spatial modelling, optimisation, computer vision, robotics, automation and decision support.
  • Familiarity with mine planning, geological modelling, exploration, drill planning or drilling workflows and associated technology platforms.
  • Awareness of software delivery, MLOps, data governance, cyber security and responsible AI.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, prioritisation and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with mining, geology, engineering, product, data, AI, automation or cloud experience or certifications desirable.
