BHP Coal DevOps

BHP has embarked on a journey to accelerate implementation of DevOps across MinAu Technology. This transformation exercise combines our delivery, engineering, and operational teams – to focus on providing an end-to-end service. This change will improve our speed to deliver value and provide more reliable services.

We are seeking to fill a number of roles with individuals who can lead by influence working with Sub-Domain Leadership.

About the Role

As a Product Owner, you play an integral role to rapidly deploy digital solutions that fundamentally change BHP’s safety, productivity, cost and people performance. Together with an agile delivery principal, technical lead, digital professionals and subject matter experts from across the Asset, you are responsible for the product’s success and the value it delivers for Asset. Always customer-centric, Product Owners build close relationships with key stakeholders to ensure the team’s effort align with business priorities.

As a successful Product Owner, you will:

  • Set ambitious and clear product vision and communicate it effectively to stakeholders and the team.
  • Have a DevOps mindset and own the product from inception through to operation.
  • Ensure customer requirements are well understood and clearly defined for the team throughout the prioritization and delivery process.
  • A business value mindset to be able to prioritize features that will lead to the greatest value for the Asset.
  • Collaborate with Asset and digital team stakeholders to ensure product align within team strategy and requirements.
  • Work with Asset and team to develop, implement and maintain short to mid-term product roadmap.
  • Responsible for wellbeing of the product team.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience leading teams and creating an environment that inspires growth, innovation and problem solving where people feel empowered and can bring their whole selves to work.
  • A growth mindset that enjoys divergent thinking, experimenting, and going outside your comfort zone.
  • Strong communication skills and experience engaging across all levels of the business.
  • Belief in a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, safety, and trust.
  • Deep operational experience within Asset or technical experience within Technology.
  • Experience in agile ways of working or project management is beneficial; and
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
