About the Role
Our Global BHP Technology function is undergoing an exciting transformation journey and moving towards more modern ways of working. Be part of a global DevOps team that partners with our Operations, Digital Factories, Centers of Excellence & Functions to drive improvement and innovation in safety, culture, productivity, and social value through the application of world-class technology. As a Product Owner, you will play a key role in ensuring stakeholders across the Group have the necessary systems to comply, manage and improve against our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and Climate Change disclosures, metrics, and commitments. This is an exciting new role and reflects BHPs social value priorities. The role is located in Brisbane or Perth.
The Product Owner creates and owns the product development and operational roadmap for their digital product(s) and defines and translates the vision in alignment with the Sustainability and Climate Change team and relevant communities of practice. They build close relationships to ensure alignment with the overall strategy and business priorities. The Product Owner is a leader in identifying, building, and managing strategic partnership across the different teams to develop coherent and optimised product roadmaps whilst managing dependencies to other teams. They work closely with others to ensure business value and user feedback is translated into new developments, and incidents on existing solutions are managed. The Product Owner drives the success of the product and the value it delivers, and more specifically:
• Works hand in hand with stakeholders from across the Group to deliver the product vision and communicate it effectively to stakeholders, the team, and the rest of Technology Enterprise & Global • Owns the Sustainability products, including all associated projects, architecture governance and operational support requirements • Provides design authority for any technology solutions within the Sustainability and Climate Change capital project portfolio. • Establishes and maintains long term and annual roadmap and plan every 90 days and manages performance against product specific KPIs • Manages application lifecycle to keep the applications current and relevant for the business • Contributes to the high level solution design for enhancements or changes, incorporating the new design into the existing External Affairs application architecture • Supports the execution of Opportunity Assessment and Identification & Selection process for projects under the External Affairs portfolio • Builds and manages the wellbeing of the product team under your charge including remote team members. Manages application lifecycle to keep the applications current and relevant for the business • Collaborates with wide range of stakeholders across External Affairs, Health and Safety and Asset stakeholders to ensure products align within the Group's strategay and requirements • Lead the team's ways of working including stand ups, sprint planning and prioritisation, retrospectives etc
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Strong ability to discover business requirements, lead studies to develop effective solution and drive execution of the solutions.
- Experience in leading agile ways of working including ceremonies, managing a backlog/release plan, tracking team level metrics, and removing blockers
- Deep experience building and leading teams in an agile/DevSecOps setting (including for custom developed applications)
- Familiar with leading Angular and Python developers
- Strong leader, collaborator, team player, and individual contributor
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, comfortable speaking and presenting to a wide range of business and technology stakeholders
- Effective problem solver, able to manage and lead the team to articulate the issue(s), agree the root causes, identify the solution and progress
- Belief in a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, safety, and trust
- Willingness to “roll up the sleeves” and go outside their comfort zone to learn – pushing teams to do the same
- Experimental mindset to drive innovation
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; Computer Science, MIS, or Engineering
