About the role
We are looking for a Product Owner – Storage to manage the ownership of the Storage platform for Rio Tinto globally. As the technical lead, you will familiarize yourself with the deliverables and key dates of each project to balance competing priorities and manage risk and issues by developing mitigation/prevention strategies. You are a team player who is willing to coach, lead and direct the work of your peers and you will have a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
Reporting to the Manager Compute Storage & Hybrid Cloud and working in an exciting and collaborative environment within our Information System & Technology (IS&T) function, you will:
- Manage and prioritise the product following Scale Agile practices
- Collaborate in the scoping, planning, implementation, configuration and coordination with various disciplines on projects of varying complexity to ensure successful execution of the storage solutions
- Influence development of solutions that impact strategic project/program goals and business results
- Recommend and develop new technical solutions, products and/or standards in support of function’s strategy and operations
- Resolve highly complex problems using significant application of technical knowledge, conceptualizing, reasoning and interpretation
- Develop solutions that are highly innovative and achieve through research and integration of best practices
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of the platform
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Strong knowledge of Storage, Backup & Recovery, VMWare, Microsoft and NetApp storage technologies
- Strong knowledge in one or more of the following technical disciplines: VMware Stack, Dell Compute and Microsoft and Red Hat Server/Management technologies
- Familiarities with a variety of concepts, practices and procedures related to private cloud technologies
- Excellent presentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills with demonstrated ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders & senior leaders
- Ability to thrive in a complex environment, learning new technologies and knowledge sharing with your peers
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Knowledge of Commvault backup and Networking
- Experience with other storage technologies (Nutanix, or Dell/EMC Storage)
- Good understanding in other technical disciplines (NetBackup, Software Defined Networking, Routing/Switching and HCI)
