About the Role
BHP’s US$3.6 billion South Flank is a greenfield mine and brownfield processing centre created adjacent to and within the Mining Area C operation. Located approximately 130km north-west of Newman, South Flank together with Mining Area C will become one of the largest iron ore hubs in the world, within reach of several billion tonnes of high-grade ore. South Flank will help to maximise the volume and quality of BHP’s iron ore production, which is essential for the world’s steel. You will be based at our new Mulla Mulla Village, a state of the art camp with facilities including multi-storey café, multiple gyms, swimming pool, squash courts, golf simulators and more.
Reporting to the Superintendent Production Enablement, the Production Coordinators are responsible for managing the interface between mine planning and mining production. In this capacity, you will actively contribute to the relevance, quality, and improvement of all mine plan and enabling plan works and the facilitation of their efficient execution.
The role is in a back-to-back position, either 8 days on 6 days off or 9 days on 5 days off roster, FIFO from Perth.
Key responsibilities within this role will include:
- Review, understand and provide input to the weekly mine plan and enabling works routines
- Maintain a consistent 48hr look-ahead to identify any gaps or opportunities in execution strategy
- Provide guidance for 48hr+ truck allocation and strategy optimisation in accordance with the weekly plan - including identifying alternate dump locations to optimise truck coverage
- Monitor compliance to design & schedule for all critical enabling works that impact the continuity of production efficiency and escalate as required including batter/toe clean up, wall sign-offs, digging strategies, modification of blast exclusion zones, etc
- Facilitate a smooth interface between the weekly sequence, enabling plan and daily schedule; awareness of deadlines including digger moves, drill moves, pattern prep due dates, pit access building due dates, etc.
- Oversee wall and intersection sign-off processes, including liaison with stakeholders (Supervisors, Schedulers, Survey, Production Scheduling etc)
- Review and endorse proposed scheduled maintenance at the weekly and 3-month plan horizons
About You
To be successful in this position, you will be a collaborative, performance focused and output driven individual with the following skills and qualifications:
- Valid Australian C class driver’s licence
- Ability to influence others and manage a dynamic work environment
- Ability to facilitate large groups, drive quality decision-making and accountability for performance
In addition, you will possess highly developed written and verbal communication skills complimented with the following demonstrated experience:
- A proven track record of safety management and understanding of risk management in a mining production context
- Well-developed computer skills – Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Leadership of a frontline Mining Production team highly regarded
- Experience in short term mine planning and/or design highly regarded
- Exposure to Modular FMS, FrontRunner, SchedMan or similar highly regarded
