About the role
Working within the Cannington Operations Engineering team to deliver accurate and effective stope designs and drill & blast plans in alignment with the weekly schedule and monthly plan that enables Haulage to extract the required volumes of ore to meet business targets.
Reporting to the Senior Operations Engineer, the role is being offered on a Permanent basis on a FIFO 8/6 roster from Brisbane or Townsville.
Some of your main responsibilities will include:
- Deliver safe stope ring plans, firing notes and drill and blast plans having regard to the stope design developed by the short-term planner
- Provide specialist drill and blast guidance and input to weekly schedule, monthly plans and infrastructure designs
- Complete underground QA/QC inspections and activities
- Identify and facilitate design risk assessments
- Utilise post-blast data and underground observations to optimise future drill and blast designs and schedules
- Complete stope drill and blast reconciliation of performance and make recommendations for future improvements
- Implement short term drill and blast related improvement projects and provide input into longer term projects
- 4 x Safety Observations (CCO/DEO)
- Comply with health, safety, environment and risk standards, procedures and routines
About you
You will have a passion and commitment to be part of a high-performance team. You will have the ability to thrive in a team environment and work with safety at the forfront at all times.
In addition, you should possess:
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
- At least 4 years’ experience in an underground sub level stoping operation
- 12 months Drill and Blast experience in an Underground Mining Operation preferred
- 12 months completed underground face time including the use of explosives is preferred
- Knowledge of scheduling process for underground operations
