Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is an open cut mine that provides the opportunity to live and work locally. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both dragline and load haul systems for their continuous operations. The MTW Mine is the largest open cut operation in the region, employing approximately 1,450 people who reside in the local and surrounding communities.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated Production Engineer to join the MTW Mining Team. This position will report to the Mining Superintendent and work a Monday to Friday dayshift only roster. As an engineering resource in the Mining Team, you will be responsible for the following activities:
• Co-coordinating mining activities with Mining Supervisors, including the generation of the daily mining priorities • Data analysis and the identification of key focus areas for improvement • Management and implementation of key business improvement projects for the Mining team
You will work closely with mining supervision to improve our compliance to plan. You will also maintain strong stakeholder relationships both internally within the Mining Department, and with other operational units including Maintenance and CHPP. It will also be critical that you develop and maintain close working relationships with our Technical Services Team.

To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes:
• Tertiary qualifications in mining engineering and/or equivalent are desirable but not essential; • Experience in the coal mining industry in either technical or mining operational capacity; • An ability to influence and communicate effectively with cross functional stakeholders; • A willingness and aptitude to learn new systems and ensure the practical applications are adding value to the business; • An interest in business analysis with a strong drive towards continuous improvement; • Sound experience using Microsoft Office Suite • Experience utilising Modular, CAT MineStar, MinVu is highly advantageous.
