Deflector Technical Service seeks a hands-on Production Engineer to provide broad support and gain valuable learning experience.

Deflector Operation consists of two underground, high-grade, narrow vein gold/copper mines, located 160km east of Geraldton. The ore is contained in a series of structurally complex lodes, namely the Deflector and Deflector South West deposits.

Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineers, the Production Engineer role is responsible for safe and cost-effective stope designs that enable the operation to achieve short- and medium-term targets, and assists with the management of day-to-day production activities.

The position will be offered on a 15:13 or 8:6 roster as FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Complete fit for purpose production drill plans, in order to maximise stope recovery and minimise dilution.
  • Generate prep and charge plans for production firings.
  • Prepare airleg rise plans, for both production slots and escapeways.
  • Create drill and charge plans for ventilation rises.
  • Produce safe and efficient tele-remote bogging plans.
  • Develop weekly schedules, covering production, development and service activities.
  • Produce work instructions for ancillary and service activities.
  • Complete stope reconciliations and assist with EOM data collection.
  • Daily and weekly production monitoring, tracking and data analysis.
  • Assist the Underground Ventilation Officer by conducting primary and secondary ventilation surveys as required.
  • Complete regular underground inspections.
  • Assist operations team by logging electronic detonators when utilised in complex blasts.

About You

  • Degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in an underground mining environment.
  • Completed required undergraduate (UG) practical experience for WA FCMMCC, with hands-on experience in underground drill and blast design.
  • Understanding of Australian mining practices and safety standards
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, complemented by excellent analytical abilities and a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to meet deadlines with effective time management.
  • Proficient use and application of MS Office suite, and relevant mining software Deswik Suite.
  • Hold a current WA Driver’s License (manual C Class)
