About the Roles
With each of our sites offering a unique environment ultimately you will support out underground operations where you will provide specialist advice and execute analysis and benchmarking of Underground Production’s end-to-end performance. You will identify and implement a portfolio of improvement initiatives that enable excellence and support business priorities for continuous improvement in Copper SA.
These roles are critical in assisting the production team in day-to-day operations and play a pivotal role in finding sustainable solutions through problem solving and identifying improvement opportunities through data analysis or in-field observations.
We currently have opportunities at our three Copper SA sites – Carrapateena, Prominent Hill and Olympic Dam.
For all sites we offer 8 days on / 6 days off FIFO roster from Adelaide. Olympic Dam also offers the option to reside residentially in the township of Roxby Downs or DIDO from regional SA.
As a Production Engineer at BHP Copper SA you will:
- Engage with underground crews and their leaders to ensure that new ideas are developed and practically implemented, and to build cross-team relationships
- Design and review drilling, blasting and production plans
- Compile reports & provide expertise to other teams in analysis of production performance indicators and metrics
- Analyse and determine equipment capability assumptions
- Identify functional capability gaps and recommend improvement opportunities to department leadership
- Prepare inputs to form the production budget and produce operating standards, procedures and work instructions
- Undertake QA/QC monitoring for production activities
- Undertake stope reconciliations/abandonments upon completion
About You
- Degree qualified in Mining, Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (or a discipline aligning with this role)
- Experience working in an underground, hard rock, metalliferous mine environment
- Underground practical experience complete including a thorough understanding of the underground production cycle
- Proven experience in drill and blast design in sub-level open stoping preferred
- Previous experience in scheduling preferred but not essential.
- Demonstrated ability to be motivated and self-directed to achieve project outcomes.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships.
- Previous experience to actively promote safe production and processes
- Well-developed Microsoft Office and Deswik suite software experience
