Located in the Great Sandy Desert in East Pilbara, Western Australia, Telfer is a fly in out fly out operation from Perth which recognizes the importance of work-life balance. Our comfortable, well furnished rooms include Foxtel, and our site offers quality food with healthy options, medical care, sports and recreation activities. Families are welcomed several times a year to open days to support our community feel at Telfer.
Who we’re looking for
We are currently seeking services of a diligent Production Geologist to join our Geology Department in our Underground Team.
Reporting to the Senior Production Geologist, the successful incumbent will provide technical expertise and ensure all work is carried out in a safe, structured, agreed and timely manner whilst ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company objectives. You will also respond to the Underground operational needs by the means of effective data and information support to the Senior Production Geologist
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Safety Management System ensuring a safety first work culture
- Taking a proactive risk management approach to departmental tasks, ie, recognise, analyse, respond to ensure risks are at an acceptable level
- Assisting with the development of the geology function and maintenance of Underground Geology systems and standards
- Support the Senior Geologist through detailed and effective Reconciliation data analysis
- Working as part of a team; contributing to team outcomes and support to team members
- Communicating with Production & Reconciliation team regarding work plans and take responsibility for daily work requirements
To succeed in this role, you will be safety focused, self-motivated and have strong time management skills. You will have expert technical capability combined with highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
We are looking for a strong communicator and influencer. Someone who has the confidence to speak up and notify the appropriate stakeholder to act on issues or concerns. Also, the Ability to provide effective analysis of stope reconciliation and effectively inform of performance through use of 3D geology software.
In addition, you will possess the following:
- An appropriate Geology qualification
- Manual drivers licence (Essential)
- Experience working within an underground mine is preferred (ideally gold)
- Proficiency in 3D geology in Vulcan (essential).
- Experience in Leapfrog
- Has an introductory level understanding of Block Modelling and its applications
- Exposure to acQuire (desirable), Reconcilor (desirable)
- Advanced use of Microsoft Office
