Production Superintendent

Reporting directly to the Mining Manager, the Production Superintendent will be responsible for the management and continuous improvement of Yarrabee’s mining equipment, personnel and contracted resources to ensure all production operations are conducted in a safe and efficient manner. The successful candidate will be required to develop and work to set budgets while encouraging continuous improvement across the team to deliver optimal operating efficiencies.

•    Blackwater QLD 4717 We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia.  Yarrabee – Owned by Yancoal, Yarrabee is a proud producer of high-quality PCI coal since 1982 and employs approximately 400 people, who are our most valuable asset. Yarrabee is located around 40 kilometres north-east of Blackwater in Central Queensland’s Bowen Basin. We are an open-cut coal mine using truck and shovel methods. Coal is railed to the Port of Gladstone and then exported to steelmakers and other customers in Asia.

Experience & Knowledge

The successful applicant will display a strong aptitude for the the following:

  • A working knowledge of the Coal Mining Safety & Health Act and associated regulations and how they pertain to individual and supervisor obligations.
  • A demonstrated understanding of associated plant & machinery within the mining environment and how to apply “best” fit of same.
  • Previous experience in providing leadership to effect project and operational success in an Open Cut Mining environment.
  • Highly experienced in managing and maintaining personnel rosters in a mining environment.
  • Highly experienced at leading and mentoring Production Supervisors for the purpose of maximising mine productivity.
  • Highly developed operating skills on a wide range of earthmoving equipment.

  • Developing financial management and budgeting skills.
  • Demonstrated high level of communication, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in risk awareness, hazard identification and a strong commitment to safety performance.
  • Able to provide technical advice and coaching in relation to mine productivity.
  • Able to demonstrate courage to uphold standards, policies and procedures.
  • Basic computer literacy – able to use MS Office suite of programs.

Qualifications

  • Current Standard 11 Mine Induction (Surface).
  • Current Australian Open Driver’s licence (mandatory).
  • OCE’s qualification (mandatory or obtain within 12 months of appointment).
  • Degree or Diploma in an associated discipline (highly desirable).
  • S1,2,3 & G2.
  • Current Trainer and Assessor Qualifications (highly desirable).
  • Senior First Aid Certificate or Higher.
  • SSE Qualification (highly desirable)
