About the Role
We are seeking an experienced safety and people-focused leader to join Load and Haul at Goonyella Riverside as a Production Prestrip Supervisor.
Reporting to the Load and Haul Superintendent, you will lead and support a team of frontline Operators to create a safe, inclusive, and high-performing work environment to deliver business outcomes. In this role, you will manage the circuit health of the autonomous haulage truck fleet, operation of electric shovels, excavators and associated ancillary equipment. Working a 7/7 day/night roster, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your leadership capability, influence team culture, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in a large world-class mining operation.
Key responsibilities
- Support and encourage strong levels of engagement to drive our site safety and performance
- Have an overriding commitment to the sustainability of our inclusive and safety focused workplace culture
- Utilise the BHP Operating System to create a meaning purpose, monitor operational performance, remove areas of waste, and manage improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with the relevant statutory and regulatory mine site requirements
- Investigate incidents and support the implementation of sustainable solutions
- Coach and mentor your team while supporting their development and personal achievements
- Manage workloads and allocate duties across the production team to deliver the plan and ensure performance targets are achieved
- Hold pre-shift briefings, communicate effectively, and manage workplace conflict to resolve issues
- By routine, personal inspection and daily interactions, monitor performance of equipment and compliance with operating procedures
- Build partnerships and maintain strong working relationships with customers and key stakeholders across the business
- Safely and proactively execute short term production plans to maximise equipment utilisation to achieve targets
- Monitor and report against daily plan and elevate unplanned and non-routine activity or performance to the Superintendent
About You
You enjoy developing others, building strong team cultures and delivering results safely. You bring operational mining experience and a collaborative leadership style that inspires trust and engagement. Demonstrated operational experience in a load and haul environment, the ability to manage complex and challenging conversations, and a sound understanding of Enterprise Agreements (EAs) and industrial relations practices will be key to your success. Your experience with building relationships with key stakeholders, navigating union interactions, and providing effective people and workforce support in a complex operational setting will be highly valued.
- Experience leading, coaching or mentoring teams within an operational environment
- Proven experience in open cut mining, production or prestrip operations
- S123 and G2 qualifications, or the ability to obtain
- A current Queensland Open Driver's Licence
- A commitment to safety, inclusion and continuous improvement
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- The ability to make sound decisions and solve problems in a dynamic environment
